It's that time of year again! The time where I dream of sugar plum fairies and TopShop's latest new arrivals. Here's what I'm hoping is under the tree (or on sale at the end of year mark downs):

I'm on my third re-watching of Gilmore Girls and I'm pretty sure I could recite it at this point. The girls are clearly infiltrating my brain and now I'm lusting after their staple of a white turtleneck (from L.L. Bean no less!) It may not be the most stylish store, not by a long shot, but it's good quality and in a larger size it'll look much more modern. And really how could I comfortable read a book underneath a tree on campus without it?

So I was lusting after traditional flare jeans, but after some thinking I may want to try a cropped version instead. They're much easier to find than ones that actually have the right length for someone whose 5'2'' and they're much more geared towards a lighter spring wardrobe.

I've been eyeing these Dr. Martens for awhile, but it may be time for them to officially be in my closet. I've lost a bit of my love for knee length boots, and these could really get me through some snowy days.

Like the Docs, I've been eyeing the Mary Lou Manizer for awhile, but when I saw the set I was like 'why not try them all!' A little crazy I'll admit, but they're so glittery and beautiful.

The Chamber Has Been Opened

Recently I've had a bit of an obsession with Zara. With the sales and all of the cute clothes how could I resist picking up this top? The store has been super helpful with redefining my style and providing clothes and accessories that'll last a little longer than the average H&M or Forever21 piece. Needless to say A LOT of what I packed for this trip was Zara, and you'll see all of it on this blog as the semester continues. 

As for my wanders around Paris, I recently went to the Catacombs. It was equal parts creepy and fascinating. Going there is a bit nerve-racking because it's so enclosed and far underground. If you get nervous in tiny spaces or are claustrophobic I'd definitely skip out on this site. Thankfully, I was able to get through it despite the disturbing lack of light and space, and eventually I was rewarded with the bones. I was very excited to see the bones, especially the skulls, but once you actually get to the entrance it really hits you that you are surrounded by millions of human bones from centuries ago. As you go along you start to get used to it, but it's still such a weird and unique experience. On the more positive side, it felt like I was either in the Chamber of Secret or in a Mummy movie which is beyond cool and totally worth the crazy, spiral, crawlspace stairs (though my calves don't agree).

Chateau de Versailles

The Chateau de Versailles was my first big place to visit in France. The Chateau is so huge and beautiful. I enjoyed the symmetry of everything, it was a different style to all of the modern curvature seen back in New York City. My friends and I spent most of our time sitting around and enjoying the view, which is just as spectacular as you could imagine. Being here in the off season of tourism is nice since there are less crowds, but at times we did get pretty cold, but that's a small price to pay for the wonderful time.

Scores of the Sales

I wasn't quite sure what to do with this week's post, but I've been so in love with both of these items ever since Thanksgiving and since they are both in the post-holiday sales they deserve a stand alone post.

Zara Office City Bag: The most exciting new addition is my new Zara purse. The minute I got it I started hugging it to my chest (please tell me I'm not the only person who does this). It's one of their mini bags, but it does hold a fair share of stuff, and it was easy for me to transfer all the junk I carry in my bucket bag. I also very much love the pockets on the back and front. They're really convenient for having easy access to your cell, hand sanitizer, or as a place to shove receipts into. Both the mini size (unfortunately only in navy blue) and the large size are on sale on Zara's website.

Nails Inc. Be Gelouse Collection: I have the bad habit of clicking around on Sephora's site whenever I'm bored, and though it puts me in danger of spending wayyy too much money I'm happy my aimless browsing led me to this Nails Inc. nail polish set. I had no plans of trying out any Nails Inc. polishes, but the colors in this set are everything I could possibly want. Purple is my favorite color, so having two shades in one set is perfect and all of the other shades just go so nicely togethe and fit right in with most Fall and Winter color palettes. I just tried out one of the polishes and they are great. They mimic gel manicures with their opacity and high shine, and they're holding up very well five days later. If all of that hasn't sold you, the set is only $29, marked down from $42! I hugged this one too.

Fall Coat

Dressed in : Coat - Zara, Sweater - Forever21, Lipgloss - Nars in Rouge Tribal 

Despite Mother Nature's attempts to push 70 degrees this week, it is definitely Fall and that means layers. Back in the Summer, when I was planning out what I wanted buy for the school year I decided I needed to expand my coat collection. I really only had one real coat (the winter one I featured last year). Beyond that I just had typical, plain fleece jackets, and some coats I stole from my mom or brother whenever it rained. Clearly, stylish coats were not in my wardrobe. I figured a Fall coat would be a good place to start. I purchased this coat during Summer Zara Sale (that event deserves italics). I loved it because it seemed very functional. I've been too terrified of cute coats having no warming capabilities to buy one previously, but the quilting and structure on this one is similar to ones you'll find at an average department store. 

First and foremost, this coat keeps me warm. No matter how much I try, that always ends up being the most important feature in a coat, and this one totally does the job. Zara has many beautiful coats, which I am guilty of lovingly gazing at from time to time when I'm suppose to be studying, but I was drawn to this one because of the leather detailing. The shoulder and elbow patches reminded me of items from Tommy Hilfiger that I've admired in the past. The shape is quite nice and flattering as well, but the kicker for me is the hood hidden in the collar. It can be easily tucked away or pulled out depending on the weather, and the hood is a great size. There is nothing worse than a short, half-assed hood that is useless when I'm caught in the rain without an umbrella. Unfortunately, I do have one aspect of the jacket that I dislike and that is the pockets. Because of the prominent zipper and the fact that they're horizontal I end up scratching my hand every time I try and keep my hands warm. Gloves are required. All and all, it's a great coat that will be worn until the snow starts to fall.

Hello! I've been having some pretty winter like weather recently, but hopefully spring is on its way. In the mean time I've been lusting over spring and summer clothes and my procrastination has inspired this post. Like every other season I'm excited to purchase some new clothes as well as bring back some old ones from storage, but I'm particularly thrilled now because I think I've got a clearer vision of what I want my style to be. I think now's the time I can truly start rebuilding my closet from the mess that was high school. Let's hope that works out, but for now here's my wish list:

Blue Dress: I was never a big dress wearer but I've been falling in love with so many recently. This one is just all around great. The color, the unexpected zipper, the preppy touch of the collar. I've been eyeing up some floral, flowy frocks as well.

Leather Jacket: I've been meaning to diversify my coat collection beyond more than just function, so of course the long quest for the perfect leather jacket for me has begun.

T-Shirts: I can't resist a good tee especially when it relates to me. One of my favorite sodas and a print that reminds me of Space Invaders Galactica - it's a no brainer. Plus they are easy to throw on over shorts or a nice skirt.

Backpack: I'm not really sure whether to call this a holographic or reflective or whatever print but it reminds me so much of my childhood and it's quite possible I might buy everything with this print on it.

High Waisted Shorts: I've official become obsessed with anything high waisted.  As for shorts I prefer a darker, sleeker pair to the the typical light and cut-off style.

Buckle Heels: With all of the practical college shoes I've been wearing recently I miss heels a lot. This pair is perfect for me to get my fix, plus they seem pretty wearable so no major pain.

Sunglasses: I love these sunglasses!! I'm seriously hoping I can find a cheaper alternative soon.

Hello! I wanted to share some of the ugly sweaters and other bits-and-bobs I'm hoping to get this Christmas. I'm so close to being done with finals and going back home I can almost feel my own queen sized bed.

Eye Lash T-shirt: Having long full eyelashes is really fun and I love to play them up whenever I do my makeup. This shirt feels like a nice ode to my lashes.

Flower Sweater: I spotted this sweater at Zara and it definitely appeals to my girly side.

Oxford Library scented Candle: I found candles at this Etsy shop and I want them so bad! How nice is it that I become obsessed with candles when I can't have them. At least when I come home I can smell some awesome nerd smells.

Antler Ring: I saw this ring and immediately thought Baratheons in Game of Thrones -- so naturally I wanted it.

Toy Solider Sweater: Too Cute!

Fair Isle Sweater: Also a super cute Christmas themed sweater.

Chelsea Boots: It's kinda late to hop on this trend's bandwagon but I've learned the easier it is to put on a shoe the more useful it is in college.

Sunglasses: These guys have been buried in my clothing wish list for ages and I just rediscovered them. Don't know why I ignored them for so long.

Pocket Watch: Basically, one day I thought it'd be cool to have a pocket watch. That's pretty much it. I guess we'll see how far that idea goes.
