Child Like

tee and sunglasses: Urban Outfitters mens shorts: Forever 21 sandals: Francesca's Collection

Hello! The minute I saw this tee I knew I had to have it. I loved watching Aaahh! Real Monsters when I was younger. Every time I was able to see it I got really excited because I believe at the time it was already canceled and Nickelodeon was only showing repeats once in awhile. Leave it to Urban Outfitter to bring out the tiny part of me that's still a child. I've never been the person in my group of friends whose a "child at heart" (on the contrary I'm usually deemed the only responsible adult) but with this tee and a juice box I'm close enough. Right? Oh well.

Rained Out

 dress: H&M coat: Columbia
necklace: vintage blue nail polish: Essie "In the Cab-ana" glitter nail polish: Formula X "Freaky like Freud"

Here I was, all ready for cute, summer outfits when the weather decided to not cooperate. Instead, its been raining with only a few days of reprieve here and there. So my cute, summer outfit turned into a more cold weather one. On the upside, on this gloomy day I finally found a raincoat that I liked. Months ago I spotted a North Face one that was more of a trench style than usual raincoats, but I decided to pass on it because of the price. Since then I've been searching for another one similar and found this Columbia one while my brother dragged me out to look at soccer cleats. I love the color because it's a neutral, but not a harsh black. Plus it has a trench style which I think looks more put together than the usual jacket style. I'm sure it'll come in handy, but I hope the rain does ease up at least for the summer. As for the rest of my outfit I kept it comfy because I took a long car ride to see my cousins dance recital. I loved going to see her dance (she's so cute) and my dress made my outfit a bit fancy but since it was loose and soft I was never uncomfortable. Though, it does look more orange than the coral color it is in real life. I hope you have a great (rain free) week!

Extras

Hello! After a few rough days of dealing with jet lag I am back to being a normal, functioning human being. Before getting into my summer posts I decided to share some random things that I didn't mention in my Rome posts.

American Girl by Ruth Orkin (photo credit)

I saw this photo in a restaurant as I was waiting to go to the restroom. It's titled American Girl in Italy, and I loved the image upon seeing it. I immediately focused in on her outfit and how effortless it was. It's a photograph I would love to have hanging on my wall at some point.

When I'm flying I like to read rather than watch a movie. I get pretty nervous, especially during takeoff, so I don't sleep, but reading requires enough focus to distract me throughout the ride. On all of the flights I read The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer and loved it. I enjoyed the story so much and really related to the main character despite her major flaws. I was going to post all the quotes on Tumblr but I let my friend borrow it because I really needed her to read. So those will be coming some time in the future. For bedtime reading I brought It by Alexa Chung. I enjoyed it but wished it went into more detail and flowed a little better. Despite that, I liked learning more about her, especially now that I'm trying to define my personal style. Also, that is my little Salvador Dali bookmark I picked up at The Strand peaking out of the book there. I brought along the second book of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series, but didn't get to it that week.

There were a few beauty products that I found super useful while traveling. The Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker gloss stick in Nudist was helpful because it was easy to just slap on my lips and was super moisturizing. The lipstick I wore on my last day there was L'oreal's Colour Riche lipstick in British Red. I love the color so much I literally want to wear it everyday. I did my nails the day before I left with my new Butter London polish in Goss. Despite the major chipping it did, I love the metallic almost rose gold color. And after a year without it I enjoyed having my Marc Jacobs Daisy eau so fresh perfume to spritz on everyday.

As a treat for myself I got high waisted Brandy Melville skinny jeans, Vogue Italia, and a post card before I flew back home.

For the entire trip I used this bucket bag I got at Target. I originally wanted a bucket bag I was eyeing for awhile from Zara. Sadly, it sold out before I was able to snag it, but this bag is surprisingly really good quality. It was sturdy enough to be packed to the brim at the airport, and the two straps came in handy when wandering around Rome. And If you want to the longer strap is removable.

I hope you enjoyed my bits and bobs from my travels and have an awesome week!
