White and black are so timeless and easy it just kind of boggles my mind sometimes. Granted it's nearly summer and I should probably be trying to wear more color, but who can resist the contrast especially with the contrast of sweet and a little sexy. I love this crop top I picked up while I was abroad. It's on trend, but so comfy so I'm pretty sure I'll be wearing it all summer. I have a feeling there will be a lot of headbands in my future as well.

Keep it simple,

PS: If a crop top is making you feel exposed but you still want to wear it -- throw on a simple cardigan.

Jewelry Roundup

As my style evolved these past few years, I have pretty much completely ignored jewelry. In high school I knew I wanted to depart from my usual, big, costume jewelry but that's as far as I got. I wanted something a little more sophisticated and stylish, but I didn't really know where to go beyond that idea, so jewelry has been missing from my outfits for awhile.

Recently, I figured out that I need to seek out jewelry that's pretty simple but still has a bit of quirk to it and spend a little more money than I used to (no more raiding Forever21). So as I continue to figure out what types of jewelry suits me I thought I'd roundup some of the jewelry I'm currently eyeing. Take a peek:

Dressed in Red

It's been a little over a week and it's still a little strange to be back home. I jumped right in to regular life with my brother's soccer games and later in the week I wore this to my aunt's graduation. Though I fully remember the game of soccer, it's going to take me a little time to get the hang of using a tripod again and not having the eternal sunshine that is Spain. I'm sure I'll get there eventually (cross your fingers.)

I spotted this dress at Zara awhile ago and I imagined it being a piece that was super relaxed but could very easily make an outfit look put together. This dress lives up to all of that, but it was in the sale and they only had it in medium which was a tad too big for me. Though I didn't mind hemming it a bit and sewing up the key hole a tad as to not expose my bra strap, I think buying anything (besides tee shirts) that aren't my size needs to be a habit to kick this summer (lets cross our fingers for that one too.)

Let's set those summer goals,

Getting Back to Normal

Right now I'm stuck wading through the last few bits of jet lag that are still hanging on. So while I'm waiting for my dark circles to fade and for my circadian rhythm to stop making me fall asleep at 9pm I thought I'd share some things that are getting me through it all.

Traveling, for most everyone I believe, means seriously dry skin so I replenish my face with Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask and everything else with Burt's Bees Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme. My skin has also been having a lot of blemishes so Origins Clear Improvements active charcoal mask is also a life saver. I don't really know if this happens to anyone else but jet lag can sometimes give me some serious headaches, and staring at a screen just makes it worse, so it's good to have a book around to keep you awake minus the pain. I loved reading Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell and I'm also loving Blink. It's not what I was expecting, but it's quite interesting and turned a lot of my attention to the psychology behind everything.

I know you're suppose to just return to normal life to make the change in time go smoothly, but truthfully I just lay around in bed until it goes away and that means cute pajamas that are comfortable as well. Gap Body ones are always a good choice. To replenish my hair a mask is much needed. I've used Macadamia's Nourishing Moisture mask for years. It's a staple. Some Naked juice does the same thing for my body. Traveling doesn't always make it easy to eat healthy, so there's some vegetables and fruits that I need to get reacquainted with.

Hope these tips help you cope with traveling or simply giving your body a much needed treat.
