Down With The Trumpets

I've got one more week left at home, so my life is consumed with packing and hoping I don't forget anything important. If I've learned anything from this summer it's that I'm definitely ready to move on. I'm still a bit unsure what exactly that next step is, but I know it's time for things to change up a bit. Inner motivation is the most difficult to get and keep, but I'm up for the challenge and I'm excited.

This dress has been a long time coming. I spent most of the summer buying clothes for the fall, so this is the my one treat item of the summer. I remember years ago looking at pictures of oxford dresses and hoping one day I would have one. To my preppy hearts content, I have finally got my hands on this J. Crew one and I couldn't be happier. It's quite light and perfect as a cover over a bikini or for cooler summer nights. You can also roll down the sleeves for more options when layering. This may just be my first day of school outfit (am I the only one who still gets excited about those even in college?)

'Scuse Me While I Kiss The Sky

We've got a few new things in this post. First off, I'm currently at my Dad's house and decided to take pictures here on this trip. I'm not sure why I don't shoot here more often. The pictures always come out very nice. You might also be able to catch me using a camera remote. I bought one thinking it would help me catch different shots and make everything go a little faster, especially when I'm busy at school. I think it'll be most useful with more detailed pictures.
Beyond that, everything is very relaxed at the moment. The weather has decided to cool off, so I get to start layering again. I have to say, this purple shirt is one of my favorite pieces. It's great for summer since it is so light, but also works well with many layers in the winter.
Though I'm not entirely in love with the summer, I could do with a few more hot days. Either way, I hope you have a great summer week.

Spectacles

Hello! I finally got to buy a pair of Warby Parker glasses. Warby Parker has become quite popular recently and rightfully so. They have a fair variety of unique optical and sun glasses, for every pair that is purchased they donate one to someone in need, and they've begun to collaborate with various celebrities. Not to mention each glass has an awesome name that has me making references like crazy. And the biggest plus goes to the fact that most of the glasses only cost $95 including the lenses.
After the jump you can read about my experience with their free (yes free) home try-on program and more pictures of the frames I chose.

Cool Down

Summer is starting to wind down so my days have been filled with making sure everything is ready for me to move back to school and hanging out with my friends before they leave. The fun part is the latter  and that frequently means pool time. So, here's some of my essentials for a day spent swimming.

1. Victoria's Secret bathing suit: This suit has lasted me a couple of years now and hasn't worn down at all. Plus, it's the two things every bathing suit should be in my mind - Bright and comfy.
2. Blistex Fruit Smoothie and Nivea Kiss of Recovery chapstick: It's important to keep your lips safe from the sun and chapstick with some SPF is the way to go. Fruity for a nice flavor or medicated if you're extra cautious.
3. Maybelline Big Eyes mascara: I keep my makeup to a minimum because I don't want to be worrying about it when I could be having fun. To me that means piling on the waterproof mascara.
4. Jamie McGuire's Red Hill: A book is never amiss poolside or at the beach. I'm currently reading this one. It's an easy read but super captivating - perfect for Summer.
5. Moroccan Oil Intense Hydrating Mask: Between the sun, chlorine, and salt water hair can get super damaged, so it's important to treat your hair. I'm currently using this hair mask and it is super hydrating and makes my curls quite soft.
6. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer sunscreen: Last but most important - sunscreen goes with me everywhere during the summer. I particularly like this one because the spray is really easy to use and it dries really quickly. That means no gross sticky feeling.

This time I opted to wear this pair of ASOS dungarees as a cover up. They're cute and easy which makes them a good cover up. They also transition well as the day goes on if you switch out a bathing suit for shirt.
Hope you have a good swim!

The Force Is Strong With These Shoes

I am so excited to finally be making a post about these shoes. When I first heard about the collaboration between Vans and Star Wars on Tumblr I immediately knew I wanted a pair. I have never owned a pair of Vans in my life (it just wasn't my scene in high school) but they seem like a pretty good idea, especially now that I walk most places. Out of all the designs they had a opted to get the Aloha Yoda one. I was drawn to these because of its really feminine floral print and the image of Yoda peeking out is subtle and cute. Sometimes with geekery I like to go more subtle because it makes it a little easier to incorporate into my wardrobe, but they did bring out some bolder shoes as well that you can check out here. They also released some really backpacks and hats as well.

Can we talk about this box for a minute: I have never gotten any box so beautiful and well thought out. I think this is one I'll have to keep around because it is just too cool.

That awesome tag above comes on the shoe when you purchase it. Below I styled the shoes will a plain outfit. I wanted all the attention to be on them, but they basically go with all of my summer clothes.

Hope you're having a great week!

PS: Yes, against my better judgement I straightened my hair and I've learned my hair has gotten quite long and humidity does not lighten for anyone.
