If you didn't now, I have left Paris and I'm in Rome now. I miss Paris a lot and I would love to return some day, but I'm excited for the adventures that are still to come. I rounded up all my favorite pictures (and one gif!) of Paris to reminisce and for you to enjoy.

This Could All Go So Wrong, But We're So Happy

My roommate and I did something that could be considered a bad idea. We decided to take a day trip to London and try to cram some of the highlights into a few hours. It ended up being pretty insane, as expected, but so much fun. I enjoyed being in the city a lot! I already want to start planning a return trip (and another after that). London's another place I've wanted to go for years now and actually have been there now is all kind of magical. Like Paris it head this older feel to it, but it reminded me of New York which I found a nice change from Paris and make me love it even more. 

As for my outfit, I decided to go for a denim on denim look. For awhile I never thought I'd pair them together, but after looking at the Alexa Chung for AG Jeans collection far too much I decided I'll give it a shot. I like this H&M top better than traditional chambray shirts because the color of it has more dimension and the buttons are very prominent. With that, and many layers, we conquered London in a day. Though I don't want to ever be out from 5am to 9pm again, I definitely don't regret the trip (spending a lot of time in Topshop didn't hurt).

Paris: The Halfway Point

Hello! While traveling I'm trying out some new types of posts, and I figured I'd write about my thoughts on Paris and share a few pictures since I'm half way through my stay. So far I've pretty much seen all of the typical Parisian sites which is insane to think about. I can now say I've been to places that so many people reblog on Tumblr and dream about traveling to. Everyday I'm struck with how much of a privilege it is to travel and how lucky I am to be able to, especially at a young age. I still have those pinch-me moments where I can't believe I'm actually in Paris. 

If it hasn't come across yet let me state: I love Paris. Though, so far, my one true love is still NYC, Paris has the elements I love about NYC mixed with a richer history and older architecture that I enjoy a lot. That older nostalgia-like feel around Europe is so different to the suburbs and modern cities back home. It's something I've come to look forward to everywhere I go. Some more key elements that makes Paris so lovely include;

1. Bread is always a side dish 

2. Smiling at strangers on the street is frowned upon -- Long live my resting bitch face

3. Real sugar (though this is essentially anywhere but America) 

4. Desserts are important and delicious. 

5. Window shopping is a huge city wide past time I could definitely get behind. 

One huge concept I've been confronted with is the forever discussed french girls. I never bought into the French Girl persona before traveling here. I found them interesting, but I wasn't nearly as obsessed with them as other people seem to be. Oh how wrong I was. Whenever I go out these girls exude such an air of easy grace, effortlessness, and natural confidence. It's mesmerizing.

The Chamber Has Been Opened

Recently I've had a bit of an obsession with Zara. With the sales and all of the cute clothes how could I resist picking up this top? The store has been super helpful with redefining my style and providing clothes and accessories that'll last a little longer than the average H&M or Forever21 piece. Needless to say A LOT of what I packed for this trip was Zara, and you'll see all of it on this blog as the semester continues. 

As for my wanders around Paris, I recently went to the Catacombs. It was equal parts creepy and fascinating. Going there is a bit nerve-racking because it's so enclosed and far underground. If you get nervous in tiny spaces or are claustrophobic I'd definitely skip out on this site. Thankfully, I was able to get through it despite the disturbing lack of light and space, and eventually I was rewarded with the bones. I was very excited to see the bones, especially the skulls, but once you actually get to the entrance it really hits you that you are surrounded by millions of human bones from centuries ago. As you go along you start to get used to it, but it's still such a weird and unique experience. On the more positive side, it felt like I was either in the Chamber of Secret or in a Mummy movie which is beyond cool and totally worth the crazy, spiral, crawlspace stairs (though my calves don't agree).
