I really enjoy dressing for concerts. A while back I came across photographer James Mollison's book The Disciples where he photographed fans at gigs who really embodied the look of the artist. After seeing just a few of the photos I fell in love with the idea of dressing to match the artist your seeing. The photos include several replicas of famous outfits, but I'm more drawn to the interpretation where you can see a little bit of the fan in it as well.
I wore this outfit to the Stromae concert at Madison Square Garden in October. Being able to see him live was amazing, and I still can't quite believe it happened. He is incredible and you should check him out even if you don't speak french. I took a lot of my inspiration from his video for Papautai. The dancers are dressed in rather simple outfits that are very colorful. This whole album was filled with a lot of bold patterns, so that had to make an appearance, and of course you can't forget his signature fun socks. It was a nice surprise to see other fans coming out in patterned socks, bow ties, and cardigans galore.
Au revoir,
xx Jasmine
P.S. I promise these are the last rough, dorm outfit photos. Pictures of NYC to come soon.
