Lips and Sunnies

tank: H&M sunglasses: Francesca's Collection necklace: vintage

When you're sad because it's your last day in Rome all you can really do is put on some lipstick and sunglasses, and eat some cannolis.

Clueless

Hello! I felt a lot like Cher from Clueless in this outfit. Today was a whirlwind of the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and cats in The temple of Julius Cesar. I also have a new appreciation for freshly squeezed orange juice. Yum!

Dear Diary

hat, tank, blazer: H&M jeans: Gap earrings: ASOS

Hello! I decided to give up some space in my carry on for a hat on this trip because I knew I wouldn't be able to bring my straightner and thought my bed head would look cool under a hat. It worked out pretty well and there was minimal work to be done as I got ready in the morning so that was a plus. Today my class and I just roamed around Rome (I'm so sorry for that wording I can't resist). It was pleasant and calmer than our previous trips have been.We just walked and enjoyed the fact that we're in such a beautiful city.

By the time we got to our starting point it began to rain a little so I tucked all my hair in my hat. It surprisingly ended up not looking bad, plus I felt like I was Mia Thermopolis from The Princess Diaries. Who doesn't want that?

I Scream for Gelato

Hello! Today was jammed packed because it was the only day we didn't have class and were able to do whatever we want, so I'll try to keep this relatively short.
My friends and I first went out to the Spanish Steps. We got extremely lucky because it wasn't too far away and it wasn't very crowded in the morning. We walked up and counted all 136 steps.

dress: Urban Outfitters blazer: H&M bag: Target sneakers: Be&D

I love this dress (and the entire outfit as well) so much. It has a bit of a vintage feel and the floral print is unlike others I've seen around recently. I only wish I didn't have to get it in a size larger because it was a bit loose at the top.

At the top of the steps we had gelato for breakfast. Mine was lemon flavored.

After grabbing some souvenirs we headed to the Trevi Fountain and just sat there for awhile and appreciated it.

Next was lunch at a place called news cafe. It was really good and I finally had my first plate of true Italian spaghetti. I'm ashamed it took so long, but I was busy eating pizza.

To round off the day we hung out at the Piazza De Popolo. It was pretty and a nice place to relax after walking and shopping. Only a few more days left unfortunately.

Sculpted

shirt and motorcycle vest: H&M jeans: Gap shoes: BE&D

Hello! My outfit for day two of Rome was a lot tougher than my previous one. I thought the layering was interesting, and it's always good to switch up styles, but I regretted not putting on shorts because once the sun was out it became so hot. For the trip of the day my class walked to the Capitoline Museum. One of the things I enjoyed about it was how old everything was. It kinda amazed me, especially because we don't have anything close to ancient in America. Lunch coming with a view was a plus. The sun made everything look so saturated with color. It was stunning. I liked the sculptures more than the paintings. They were intricate and grand, especially the clothes. It blows my mind how artists make something so solid looks so soft. I'll never know how to do it, but I'm up for appreciating it. More to come tomorrow.

Letting the Light In

tee and skirt: bracelets: Feed for Target and H&M

Hello! As you may have known from Tumblr or Twitter I am in Rome for the week! It was a pretty long flight in, but not too bad. I'm not the worst on flights, but my stomach could have handled my nerves better. Despite the uncomfortable feeling, arriving was like a dream. I just look around and everything is so pretty!
For the first full day my class went to the Vatican. I opted for a maxi skirt since it was required that we dress more modestly. I'm kinda amazed at the skirt because it's from Forever21 and isn't too long. The fact that it fits perfectly made me feel super girly as we walked the streets, though once I got back I immediately started sitting cross-legged.
The Vatican was beautiful but tiring. One of my favorite parts was learning about Michael Angelo and his process of painting the Sistine Chapel. It was nice to learn about some of the technicalities of painting the ceiling, and I like the fact that he stuck to his guns when people opposed his work. You should look him up he's pretty badass.  I also loved St. Peter's church. The grandness of it alone was mesmerizing and inexplicable. Like nothing I've ever seen. Can't wait for more tomorrow.

End Where You Begin

Hello! It's almost the end of my first year at college, and it's kinda blowing my mind that it's gone by so fast. For our last trip to the city my roommates and I went to The High Line, one of the first places I went since moving in. It was nice to just take some time before exams and just sit around, read, and enjoy being in the city. I just went for a playful and relaxed outfit with a loose top and my Starry Night socks.
I feel like I've learned a lot about myself and what I want to do just from being less stressed then I was in high school. With all of this new discovery one thing I am still sure of is how much I love the city. I'm going to miss it so much after returning from Rome even though I'll be back in my own bed. Now I'm just rounding out my finals and then packing to send things home and to go Rome. A bit hectic, but the year has left me happy and excited for the future. That's the best thing I could ask for.

This kid got pretty excited about the view and ran into my shot, it was pretty cute though.
